About the event
Opera of the Plains’ Children’s Opera program brings high-quality, age-appropriate live opera directly to K–12 students through engaging, story-driven performances designed for school audiences. Each production is paired with TEKS-aligned educational materials (available in English and Spanish) that help teachers connect the experience to classroom learning, supporting literacy, music and arts standards, vocabulary development, and critical thinking through ready-to-use lessons and activities. Our format is built for schools: a concise performance length with an interactive talkback, clear learning objectives, and accessible content that welcomes first-time opera listeners while reinforcing the skills students are already practicing every day.
Opera of the Plains’ Children’s Opera program brings live, professional opera directly to students and families across our region, at no cost to participating schools, through engaging, age-appropriate productions that fit easily into the school day.
